Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 video leaked - to have a 2048x1200 7" Super-AMOLED display?

Update: The Galaxy Tab 2 is now official, here's more details along with the new Galaxy S2 phone.

Update: We understand that Samsung wants to introduce the Galaxy Tab 2 soon, and it's not clear whether they'll be able to actually deliver 7" Super-AMOLED displays in time - some say that it will use an LCD like the original Tab. It's not clear also whether this video is real or is this a fake...

We found a "leaked" video announcing the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. The leaked specs include a 7" 2048x1200 Super-AMOLED display (which is probably a Super AMOLED Plus, really, because of that resolution). Samsung unveiled a 7" Super-AMOLED in a tablet prototype back in November 2010, so this isn't a huge surprise. Here's the video:

The rest of the features include:

  • Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread (upgrade 3.0 Honeycomb)
  • 3D Display after upgrade to 3.0 Honeycomb. I'm not sure what kind of 3D display, really... will it be glasses-free?
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor
  • Gorrila Glass screen
  • Back camera: 8mp, 1080p video, Dual LED flash. Front camera: 3mp
  • 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v3.0
  • USB Port
  • 64 GB Internal Memory, MicroSD Slot, 1024 MB RAM
  • Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Barometer

Samsung claims the new SuperAMOLED Plus has 50% more subpixels, if we consider the actual SuperAMOLED on Galaxy S are 800x480 PenTile equivalent, the new SuperAMOLED Plus should have an equivalent resolution of 1200x720, a reasonable resolution.

But the Galaxy Tab has a much larger display - 7" vs the Galaxy S 4"

No GPS?

I think the problem is the native resolution.

Samsung has a 3.3" SuperAMOLED with 480x800 and the Galaxy S SuperAMOLED with the same resolution but lightly bigger.

Samsung keeping the pixel size from the Galaxy or Wave could make a higher resolution SuperAMOLED for the 7" Galaxy Tab, but the native resolution of Android and other apps is the problem.

hey guys ! this one is impossimble cause the nvidia tegra2 support a maximum resolution of 1050x1680 pixels! so how does the galaxy tab 2 have a 1200x2048 pixels screen???!!!

Here is what I think the specs should, and probably will be:

  • Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread (upgrade 3.0 Honeycomb)
  • 2D 1024 x 600 Super-AMOLED Plus Display
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor
  • Gorrila Glass screen
  • Back camera: 5mp, 1080p video, Dual LED flash. Front camera: 2mp
  • 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v3.0
  • USB Port
  • 64 GB Internal Memory, MicroSD Slot, 1024 MB RAM
  • Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Barometer
