Lenovo and Motorola show new rollable device prototypes

During Lenovo's Tech World 2022 event, the company and its Motorola subsidiary showed new device prototypes, including two interesting rollable OLED devices.

In the video above, you can see a new laptop prototype that has a rollable OLED display, that opens up to increase the screen size. There's also a smartphone that opens from a 4-inch display to a 6.5-inch one using a rollable display.

Rollable OLED technology is maturing, and the first devices are likely to hit the market next year. In 2021 it was reported that LGE aims to launch its first rollable phone before the end of the year, but later the company closed its smartphone business, and the rollable OLED phone project was scrapped. LG is still offering the rollable OLED TV, but this uses a completely different production process, and is extremely pricey.

We have seen other companies show rollable OLED device prototypes, including Samsung Display and Intel, TCL, AUO and Oppo.
