Cynora latest TADF blue emitters feature higher efficiency and lifetime

Germany-based blue-TADF OLED emitter developer Cynora announced that it developed a new blue-emitting material that combines high efficiency with long lifetime. Cynora's new material offers an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 14% and a lifetime of 420 hours (LT80, at 500 cd/m2).

In May 2016 Cynora announced two blue emitter systems - with one featuring a high efficiency and the other a long lifetime. This time Cynora managed to create a single system with both efficiency and lifetime. The company says that they are optimistic that they will reach a commercial TADF blue emitter by the end of 2017.

Did Panasonic demonstrate large transparent OLED displays?

Panasonic demonstrated a new transparent display, showing several use cases for this technology - in wine refrigerators, in living room cabinets and more.

According to reports, this is Panasonic's 2nd gen transparent displays. The first generation displays were LCD (LED) based displays, but the company was not happy with the quality of the display and the low transparency. Changing to an OLED display resulted in better transparency and great images - virtually indistinguishable from non transparent TVs.

LGD's Gen-5 OLED lighting fab is progressing according to plan, will enter production in 2017

In March 2016 LG Display announced that it aims to construct a Gen-5 (1000x1200 mm) OLED lighting fab in Gumi, South Korea. The fab was said to start mass production in the first half of 2017, with a monthly capacity of 15,000 substrates.

Today we update that LG Display has indeed started to work on the new OLED lighting production line. When the company made its announcement in March, it already placed the orders for the new Gen-5 deposition development. Mass production is indeed expected in 2017 (although LGD does not wish to commit to a certain month yet as these things sometimes get longer than expected).

Sharp to setup two OLED pilot production lines in a $570 million investment

Sharp announced that it will invest $570 million in its OLED business. The company will establish pilot lines at its plants in Osaka and in the Mie Prefecture. The pilot lines will begin OLED production in the summer of 2018.

A few weeks ago Sharp said it is aiming to collaborate with Japan Display on OLED technologies, and now the company said it is still hopeful to work with JDI. Following Sharp's announcement in August, a source from JDI said that they haven't been approached by Sharp yet.

LG slashes off $2,000 from its 65" signature G6 OLED TV

LG's Signature OLED G6 is now shipping for $5,999 at Amazon.com - that's $2,000 off the previous price of $7,999! I'm not sure how much longer this price will last, but this is a great deal. The G6 is LG's premium OLED TV, featuring an ultra-slim on-glass design, a high-end pivoting Harman Kardon soundbar, LG's webOS 3.0, Color Prime PRO technology and HDR. The 77" model costs $19,999.

LG also >reduced the price of the entry-level flat 55" OLEDB6 to $2,297 (down from $2,497). The 65" B6 still costs $3,999.
