OLED lamps on the market

OLED is a great lighting technology - providing uniform, healthy, efficient and design-friendly lighting panels. Due to high production costs and low investments, however, the OLED lighting is still in its infancy. Most large lighting makers have scrapped their OLED lighting R&D projects, and the future of OLED lighting is not clear. Click here for more information and our industry news.

 

Following is a list of OLED lamps on the market:

IKEA Vitsand OLED

IKEA's first OLED lamp, the Vitsand, is a chandelier that uses 7 OLED panels to provide 700 lumens at 2700K. IKEA lists the lamp at 9W which means each panels is about 77 lm/W. The lamp is dimmable, and the panels cannot be replaced.

The Vitsand is now available in IKEA Europe for199 Euro (around $230).

Workrite Ergonomics Natural OLED desk light

The Natural OLED desk light from Workrite Ergonomics is a desk lamp that features a single OLED lighting panel (made by LG Chem). Workrite says that the 320x110 mm OLED panel (N6BB40C) provides a rich, evenly diffused light, renders colors with amazing accuracy (94 CRI) and emits a neutral white light (3900K) that is glare free, UV free and blue light free. The OLED's lifetime is rated at 30,000 hours (LT70) at the lowest brightness setting, and the lamp produces 442 lumens at 13.7 W (32 lm/W) at the maximum brightness setting.

OTI Aerelight OLED desk lamp

OTI's Aerelight OLED is a high-end luminaire that uses a single OLED panel to provide 1,000 lux. It is made from an anodized aluminum frame that responds to touch, for intuitive power and dimming control. It also features a built-in wireless charging pad to charge all of your Qi compatible mobile devices.

The Aerelight OLED desk lamp was shipping for $299.

Liternity victory

The Victory is the first Liternity lamp (a brand launched by Novaled). This premium limited-edition desk lamp uses four rectangle OLED panels and has a carbon-fabric base. The lamp is 35 cm high and 40 cm deep.

The victory is available in several colors and will start shipping in September 2011 globally. According to our sources, it costs about $7,500.

Blackbody Helix

The Helix is an OLED lamp from BlackBody that has 3 OLED panels arranged in a 120° angle. The panels can be folded in or out by means of a sliding ring. The Helix can be integrated in a multimodule arrangement, for example the ENVOL seen below:

The Helix consumes 15W, it weights 1.2Kg and has a total active area of 420cm2. The color temperature is 3200K and the CRI is 80. Here's a nice PDF showing more photos and details about this new lamp.

D Signed Lamped

Lamped is a customizable OLED lamp by D Signed, the Serbian design studio. The lamp uses OLED tiles that are joined with "ball joints" so you can move it all directions - and use it as a floor lamp, hanging lamp, desktop light, etc.

The OLED panels are made by the Fraunhofer Institute and are 106x50mm in size, with a 91.6x41.6mm active area. The brightness is 1000 cd/m2, the color is 2900K (soft white). On the foot of the lamp (that is made of molded stainless steel and is heavier than the rest of the lamp) there are dimmer controls.

The Light Photon

The Light Photon is an OLED lamp made by Blackbody and hand-made pre-production prototypes are now available for $5900. The lamp's light source is a 47cm x 37cm single evaporation OLED device, with an active area of 1001cm², a color temperature of 2800K and a CRI above 80.

The small cross on the metal base allows the light to be turned on and off (by placing the finger completely over the cross) or dimmed (by holding the finger slightly above the cross for several seconds).

Acuity Brands Olessence

The Acuity Brands Peerless OLE4 Olessence is a suspended luminaire that combines direct-view OLEDs with LEDs. There are three available models, the 4' (8 OLED panels), 6' (12 OLED panels) and 8' (16 OLED panels). The Olessence uses rectangle OLEDWorks OLED panels.

WALO-TL WALOSPRING / WALOSUMMER

Germany lighting maker WALO-TL's WALOSPRING and WALOSUMMER are two OLED luminaries that make use of OLEDWork's OLED panels. The WALOSPRING is a floor lamp and the WALOSUMMER is a pendant. Both use exchangeable and rotatable panels, which could be of any combination between curved, rectangular, square or circle OLEDs.
