Samsung Display looks to sell its Tianjin AMOLED module factory, as demand for rigid OLEDs in China is declining

According to reports from Korea, Samsung Display has decided to sell its OLED module fab in Tianjin, China, as demand for its rigid AMOLED is declining, espsecially in China, and the company wishes to consolidate all its AMOLED module production capacity in Vietnam.

The SDC Tianjin module line has the monthly capacity to produce around 13 million rigid smartphone AMOLED display modules.

Sidtek launches its OLED microdisplay module fab expansion project in Meishan

Sidtek has formally launched its OLED Meishan microdisplay module fab expansion project. The company says that the first phase in this project is expected to be complete by June 2027.

Sidtek will invest around $225 million in this project, which will include, in addition to the capacity expansion, also an establishment of an IC R&D center, and an OEM production line for AR/VR headset production.

You can now find microLED microdisplays at the OLED Marketplace

We are happy to announce that our popular OLED Marketplace is now offering microLED microdisplays. MicroLEDs, while still at an early technology and industry stage, offer extremely high brightness, which is useful for AR applications, and are now entering the market.

The first microLED that is on offer is a 0.12" VGA ultra-high-brightness monochrome display. It is available as either a display panel, or a complete display engine with optics (see image above).

The OLED Marketplace now lists LG Display's 13.3" foldable laptop displays

The OLED Marketplace is now listing LG Display's flexible (foldable) 13.3" laptop display, the same display used by Lenovo in its 2020 ThinkPad X1 Fold. This panel offers a 1536x2048 resolution, a brightness of 300 nits, and a bending radius of 3R.

Samsung Display to invest $1.8 billion in a new OLED module production line in Vietnam

Samsung Display has decided to build a new OLED module production line in Vietnam, mostly to produce automotive OLED modules and IT OLED modules.

The new production line will be built in Yen Phong industrial park in Bac Ninh province east of Hanoi, close to an existing Samsung Electronics plant. It is understood that the Vietnamese government will provide support for Samsung's new line, which will cost a total of around $1.8 billion.

We now list BOE's 2.69" 600x800 AMOLED display in the OLED Marketplace

We are happy to announce that the OLED marketplace lists a 2.69" 600x800 AMOLED display, produced by BOE.

We know many device makers have been struggling to find small-sized AMOLED displays, as most OLED makers produce either wearable OLEDs (usually up to 1.5" in size) or smartphone-type OLEDs (starting at around 5-inch). This new 2.69" AMOLED can be a great solution for many companies.
