Dowoo Insys

Korea-based Dowoo Insys, established in 2010, is a developer and supplier of glass products for the display industry.

Dowoo Insys develops ultra-thin glass covers for foldable OLED displays. The company provides its glass, which is a treated Schott Glass UTG, to Samsung Display.

 

Samsung Display is the largest shareholder (27%) in Dowoo Insys.

Novatek Microelectronics

Novatek logoEstablished in 1997, Taiwan-based Novatek Microelectronics Corp. is a fabless chip design company that provides a wide range of display driver ICs and SoC solutions.

Novatek develops drivers for both small-sized and large-area displays - LCD and AMOLED displays.

In 2019 the company says that its current OLED driver shipments are about a million unit per month, and it expects this number to double in the near future.

Amorphyx

Amorphyx logoUS-based Amorphyx develops amorphous-metals based display backplanes, which can be used to drive displays using quantum-tunneling. The company says that such backplanes will enable extremely fast conductivity and thus "unlimited" refresh rates.

Amorphyx's AMNR-based backplane are compatible with LCDs, OLEDs and e-paper displays.

GigaDisplay Semiconductor

GigaDisplay Semiconductor logoChina-based GigaDisplay Semiconductor develops display driver ICs, offering drivers for both mobile AMOLED panels and OLED microdisplays.

In February 2018 GigaDisplay demonstrated its microdisplay drivers and plans to achieve mass production by the end of 2018.

Texas Instruments

TI offers several power supply bias chips to drive AMOLED displays.

Raydium Semiconductor

Raydium Semiconductor logoRaydium Semiconductor Corporation, established in 2003 in Taiwan, develops display and touch panel ICs. The company's product line includes source drivers, gate drivers, mobile phone ICs and A/V applications. integrated driver IC for mobile phone, AV applications, General Display.

Raydium develops drivers for both LCD and AMOLED displays.

LX Semicon

Korea-based LX Semicon (previously Silicon Works) was established in 1999 as a IC technology developer for display panels. Silicon Works is a fabless company that suppliers ICs for TVs, monitors, laptops, mobile devices, automotive, lighting and battery devices.

LX Semicon provides AMOLED drivers for smartphones and VR/AR devices.

BASF Coatings

BASF coating logoBASF Coatings, a division of BASF, develops, produces and markets a high-quality range of innovative automotive coatings, automotive refinishes and decorative paints.

Following BASF 2016 acquisition of Chemeteall, the Coatings division now supplies applied surface treatments for metal, plastic and glass substrates in a wide range of industries and end markets. For the OLED market, BASF Coatings provide flexible barrier (encapsulation) solutions.

Asahi Glass

Asahi Glass logoEstablished in 1907 in Japan, Asahi Glass Corporation (AGC) is one of the world's top glass makers. AGC produces architectural glass, automotive glass and also glass for electronic products.

For the display market, AGC offers substrate glass for both LCD and OLED displays. For the OLED market, AGC developed the low-thermal shrinkage AN Wizus glass. The company is also developing ultra-thin flexible glass for flexible and foldable displays.

Solar-Tectic

Solar-Tectic logoUS-based Solar-Tectic LLC develops high quality low-cost thin-film solutions for the solar (including tandem perovskite/crystalline silicon), display, and glass industries.

In November 2017 Solar-Tectic announced a new backplane technology called LT1CS (Low temperature single crystal silicon) which the company says is a lower-cost alternative to LTPS.
