Solvay OLED

Solvay OLED, based in Pittsburgh, US, was established in 2014 by Solvay after the acquisition of Plextronics. Solvay OLED, an internal start-up owned by Solvay, handled all of Solvay's OLED activities - mostly focused on soluble HIL and HTL OLED materials - but also developing small-molecule hosts and other technologies.

The company had two dedicated laboratories located in Pittsburgh and in Korea as well as scale up capabilities in France. Solvay OLED was dissolved in 2016 as Solvay decided to exit the OLED market.

Everest Scientific

For the OLED market, the company used to provide intermediate materials. It seems as if the company is no longer in business.

Pulsedeon

Pulsedeon logoFinland-based Pulsedeon (previously known as Picodeon) specialized on thin film coatings and surface treatments with its patented Coldab Ultra-Short Pulsed Laser Deposition (USPLD) process.

The company's Coldab Series4 USPLD batch process coating equipment can be used to deposit OLED encapsulation on plastic substrates at low temperatures. In recent years the company has focused entirely on deposition tools for Li-Ion battery materials.

Raystar Optronics

Raystar currently offers character and graphic PMOLED displays.

Plastic Logic

Plastic Logic logoPlastic Logic was founded in 2000 as a spin-off from Cambridge University, to develop OTFT backplanes for displays. The company mostly focus on e-paper (E Ink) displays, but it is also involved with OLED displays.

In 2011 Plastic Logic received a major investment from Russia's RUSNANO fund, and the company setup a manufacturing plant in Dresden, Germany. In February 2015 Plastic Logic spun-off FlexEnable to handle technology development and licensing, and is currently developing and manufacturing flexible OTFT-based EPD (E Ink) displays.

Luoyang Sifon Electronic

Luoyang Sifon Electronic logoLuoyang Sifon Electronic was established in 2001 in Luoyang, China, to manufacture high-melting metals such as tungsten and molybdenum alloys. The company produces molybdenum targets, tungsten targets and WCu wafers for the OLED industry and says LG Display uses their products for OLED production.

Luoyang Sifon's web site is no longer operating, it is not clear whether this company is still in business.

StoreDot

StoreDot logoStoreDot, based in Israel, was established in 2011 to develop and commercialize new peptide-based technology originally discovered in Tel Aviv University. The technology enabled the synthesis of quantum dots based on bio-materials for a variety of application.

In 2015 the company changed direction from focusing on memory technology to the display market. In 2016 we visited StoreDot's headquarters and reported on the company's technology and business. Later on the company changed direction again to focus on fast-charging EV batteries.

IDTechEx

The company offers reports on organic electronics, flexible displays, OLED lighting and printed electronics.
