In defense of UDC patent fundamentals

Tens of millions of dollars in grants coupled with tens (if not hundreds?) of millions of dollars in seed equity have funded past research by distinguished Princeton University scientists in partnership with the University of Southern Cal and the University of Michigan with the aim of the intended research to turn discoveries into practical applications.

These highly recognized and accomplished research universities are about ideas, opening minds, exploring new horizons, moving science from the lab to the marketplace.

And sometimes that exploration happens to produce spin-off firms that in turn happen to produce publicly traded firms, including UDC with their impressive OLED patent portfolio.

It’s entirely appropriate to both recognize and reward patents to data scientists that analyze information. And when important discoveries are made – as they are at UDC – they make a difference to the world.

This company has truly made a difference in attracting and contracting with cutting-edge high-tech companies... an economic engine that will keep running despite the shorts and their nearsighted manipulation of the stock.
