Add-Vision

Company description: 

Add Vision logoAdd-Vision (from Scotts Valley, CA, US) is a pioneer in the development of PLEDs display technology for use in a wide range of flexible low-resolution display and specialty lighting applications. Add-Visions claims that their unique P-OLED technology offers a superior set of display characteristics and cost performance as compared to other flexible display technologies, such as AC-driven thick-film EL.

CDT is a shareholder in Add-Vision.

In June 2009, Bayer signed a licensing agreement with Add-Vision for Flexible Polymer OLEDs. Beside Bayer, they also list Alps Electric, Toppan Forms and CDT as licensees.

Advantech

Company description: 

Advantech US logo Advantech is an early stage OLED backplane development company, founded by Dr. T. Peter Brody, inventor of the Active-Matrix. Advantech has created a roll-to-roll fabrication technology for producing thin film electronic circuits at exceptionally low cost. The company intends to exploit this technology to manufacture active matrix backplanes for OEM sale and licensing.

AsTEK

Company description: 

AsTEK is a privatly held company, based in Korea.

In January 2009 AsTEK bought Leadis' display driver business, which included both PMOLED drivers and AMOLED drivers (although Leadis remained the owner of the AMOLED EpiC technology IP).

AU Optronics

Company description: 

AUO logoAUO (AU Optronics) was formed in 2001, by the merger of Acer Display and Unipac Optoelectronics. Later in 2006 AUO merged with Quanta Display. AUO is the world's number 3 manufacture of TFT-LCDs.

AUO has done AMOLED research and production, using UDC's PHOLED materials, but in 2007 have decided to shift focus back to LCD, and stopped investing in OLEDs. In January 2008 AUO resumed their OLED operation. In October 2009, AUO showed 14" OLED panels that are "ready for production".

BASF future business

Company description:

CDT's PLED technology has already been licensed to world class OEMs, including Philips, Seiko Epson, Osram, Dupont and Delta Optoelectronics. CDT is based in Cambridge, UK. CDT are also working on Printing technology for OLEDs.

Chi Mei EL (CMEL)

Company description: 

CMEL logoUPDATE: CMO (CMEL's parent company) has been acquired by Innolux in the end of 2009. We still have to wait and see how it effects the company's OLED program.

Chi Mei EL Corporation (CMEL), founded by the R&D team at Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) in 2004, is fully devoted to the R&D, design, production, and sales of OLED panels.

CMEL currently focuses on small and medium-sized OLED panel production. Their largest panel available is 7.6" AMOLED. The company has over 210 employees and is fully owned by Chi Mei Optoelectronics.

CMEL purchases PHOLED materials from Universal Display Corporation, and have developed a new 'MEM' tech to make thinner and lighter AMOLEDs, showing a 25" TV in November 2008.

Chimei Innolux

Company description: 

Innolux logoInnolux, established in 2003, is based in Taiwan, and is producing TFT-LCD displays. In 2009 Innolux has acquired CMO and TPO, two companies that had OLED subsidiaries. The new company will be called Chimei Innolux. The actual acquisition will take place in May 2010, and we'll have to wait and see how if effects the OLED programs of the two acquired companies.
