A few days ago we reported on Value Electronics' 2025 TV Shootout, where the winner was Sony' Bravia 8 II OLED TV, beating Samsung's S95F, Panasonic's Z95B and LG's G5. In that order.
According to reports, LG's G5 OLED TV performance was rather dismal. Nilay Patel, editor-in-chief of The Verge, and one of the judges, said that the LG G5 TV failed several of the tests, showing wrong colors, suffering from a slight green cast the kept showing, and did not perform well in dark scenes. In some of the tests, the judges gave LG the lowest score possible.
This is a surprise, as LG Electronics uses the same latest-gen WOLED panel, produced by LG Display, as Panasonic does, so this does not explain the poor behavior. The judges speculate that the problem may be LG's latest Alpha 11 A1 Gen 2 processor, or some other design choices by LG.
The Samsung S95F and the Sony Bravia 8 II both use SDC's QD-OLED panels.
