Samsung LogoSamsung SDI aims to boost the monthly capacity of AM OLED panels to 4.5 million units in the third quarter of 2008, up from 1.5 million in the second half of 2007. Samsung SDI said the major applications for AM OLED panels in 2007 will remain for small-size displays such as for mobile phones and digital music players. The maker aims to provide 2.2- to 2.6-inch AM OLED panels initially and move to provide 3- to 4-inch displays for applications such as digital still cameras (DSCs) and PDAs, the company said. In 2009, Samsung SDI will start developing 5-inch-and-above AM OLED panels, the maker added.
