In May 2026 we reported that BOE is looking to upgrade its pilot WOLED (WRGB) production capabilities. According to the company's plan back then, it would convert some of its B18 8.5-Gen LCD fab in Nanjing to WOLED production.

According to new industry reports, BOE did not manage to get an approval from the Chinese authorities, as these are worried the large-scale investment required to build large-area WOLED production lines do not have merit. Other reports suggest that there is an internal conflict within BOE over this project.
