Omdia: LG Electronics OLED TV shipments grew 80% in Q3 2020

Omdia says that in Q3 2021 LG Electronics have passed the 10 million OLED TV shipments, since it started shipping OLED TVs in 2013. It took LGE seven years to sell its first 5 million TVs, and only 2 more years to sell the next 5 million.

In Q3 2021 LGE sold (according to Omdia) almost 900,000 OLED TVs, a 80% growth over Q3 2020. The total OLED TV market grew to 1.53 million in Q3, and Omdia expects it to pass the 2 million units market in Q4. LGE holds a 60% market share of the OLED TV market.

The average selling price of LG's OLED TV was $1,863 , or about three times the average selling price of an LCD TV sold worldwide.

Interestingly Omdia says that the global TV market was down 20% in Q3, from 62.9 million units in 2020 to 50.3 million units in 2021.
