OLED displays provide better image quality, a low response time, low power consumption and a thinner design. While OLEDs are already very popular in smartphones, wearables, VR headsets and TVs, burn-in challenges and high production costs have resulted in slower adoption in the laptop market.
In 2019 all that changed as Samsung Display started producing 15.6" 4K AMOLED displays for the laptop market, and several leading makers (including HP, Lenovo and Dell) started to offer high-end OLED laptops. Since then SDC added more OLED laptop displays to its lineup, and other OLED producers (such as EDO and BOE) started to offer laptop panels as well.
In 2020 Lenovo became the first company to offer a laptop with a foldable OLED. The ThinkPad X1 Fold features a 13.3" 2048x1536 foldable OLED display that is produced by LG Display. The display takes up the entire interior of this this device, and this is what will likely to be just a first design that may eventually become the future of mobile computing.

Following is a list of laptops with OLED displays:
Samsung's Galaxy Book4 series of laptops all use AMOLED displays and Intel's Core Ultra 9 or Core Ultra 7 Evo Edition chipsets. The top of the line Galaxy Book4 Ultra uses a 16" touch WQXGA+ (2880x1800) 400 nits 120Hz VRR AMOLED display, while the Book 4 Pro offers the same display at either 14" or 16".
The Book 4 Pro 360 also has the same 16" 2880x1800 AMOLED display.
The 2024 Asus Zenbook 14 OLED laptop offers a 14" 3K (2880x1800) 600-nits 120Hz AMOLED display, and Intel's new AI Core Ultra 9 CPUs (Meteor Lake).
Asus did not yet detail the shipping date or price of the new UX3405 Zenbook14 OLED range.
Acer's Swift Edge 16 (2023 model) laptop offers a 16" 120Hz 3200x2000 AMOLED display, AMD's Ryzen 7040 Series processors with Ryzen AI, AMD RDNA 3 GPU, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage.
The Swift Edge 16 OLED laptop is now shipping starting at $1,299.
The LG Gram Fold laptop offers a 17" 60Hz 500 nits 2560x1920 foldable touch OLED display (that's LGD's new tandem-stack display), an Intel Raptor Lake chipset (Core i5-1335U), 16 GB of RAM, 512 G of storage and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
The Gram Fold will launch in Korea in October 2023, for around $3,300.
HP's Spectre Foldable PC is a laptop that is based on a 17" 2560x1920 foldable OLED display. Other specifications include a 12th-Gen Intel Core i7-1250U CPU, Iris Xe graphics, 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of SSD storage and a battery that should last for up to 12 hours.
The Spectre Foldable will ship soon, starting at $4,999.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 is a gaming laptop, that offers a 14" 120Hz VRR 2880x1800 AMOLED display, an AMD chipset (up to Ryzen 9 7940HS), NVIDIA GPU (up to RTX 4060), up to 64GB of memory, and 1TB of storage. The laptop has Lenovo's AI Engine Plus powered by an LA1 AI chip that helps to learn the gaming habits and maximize performance and battery.
The Legion Slim 5 will ship by the end of September 2023, starting at $1,439.
Lenovo's Yoga Air 14s, 2023 edition, is a thin laptop that offers a 14.5" 90hz 600nits 3K touch AMOLED display, a Ryzen 7-series chipset, 32GB of memory, 1TB SSD and a 70Wh battery.
Lenovo did not yet detail the price or shipping date of its latest laptop.
The Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED (B9403CVA) eco-friendly laptop offers a 14" 2560x1600 (WQXGA+) OLED display, Intel's 13-Gen Core chipsets, and a magnesium-lithium body produced using Thixomolding to reduce waste by 29% and manufacturing time by 75%. The laptop is also made of 70% post-industrial recycled metal. Asus says that this is the world's lightest business laptop at 990 grams.
The Robo & Kala 2-in-1 laptop is a tablet/laptop hybrid device that offers a 12.6" 600-nits 2.5K touch AMOLED display and is based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 5nm chipset. The Windows 11 device offers up to 20 hours of battery life, is only 7.3 mm thick and weighs just 690 grams.
The company launched its product as a crowdfunding campaign, and it is now shipping for $799.
Asus' 2023 OLED Zenbook range include three laptop devices. First up is the Zenbook S 13 OLED, which is said to be the thinnest 13.3" OLED laptop ever at 1 cm. It sports a new 13.3" 2.8K 550 nits AMOLED display, several chipset options up to Intel Core i7 1355U, up to 32GB RAM a 1 TB SSD. The Zenbook S 13 OLED weighs 1 Kg.
The second laptop is the Zenbook 14X OLED, that has a 14.5" 2.8K 120Hz OLED display. It offers chipsets up to Intel Core i9 H-series and Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3050 graphics.
