Lumicore starts to construct a $390 million 12-inch OLED microdisplay fab in Nanjing

OLED microdisplay developer Lumicore announced that it has started to construct a 12-inch OLED microdisplay fab, in the Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone.

Total investment in the new will reach around 1.2 billion Yuan (around $390 million USD), and the project is scheduled to be ready by 2027 (to initiate early production). Lumicore says that at full capacity, the new fab will produce 60,000 12-inch wafers each month, equivalent to an annual production of approximately 80 million 0.13-inch microdisplays, or 4 million 1.32-inch microdisplays.

 

Lumicore, established in Shanghai a in 2019, and also known as Nanjing Yunguang Technology, has an active 8-inch OLED microdisplay production line in Nanjing, that is already producing panels, but at low volume (1,000 monthly substrates). In early 2024, Lumicore announced it has raised $100 million in its Series A funding round. The company announced several microdisplay products, including a high-efficiency 0.71” 1920x1080 full-color OLED microdisplay.
