In February 2026, OLED microdisplay developer Lumicore announced that it has started to construct a 12-inch OLED microdisplay fab, in the Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone.
Yesterday Lumicore held a ceremony as it has finished the planning and design phase, received all required approvals, and finalized the preparations. It is is now starting to construct the main building - which it expects to complete before the end of 2026.
Total investment in the new will reach around 1.2 billion Yuan (around $390 million USD), and the project is scheduled to be ready by 2027 (to initiate early production). Lumicore says that at full capacity, the new fab will produce 60,000 12-inch wafers each month, equivalent to an annual production of approximately 80 million 0.13-inch microdisplays, or 4 million 1.32-inch microdisplays.
