LGD to show new transparent OLED application ideas at CES 2022

LG Display will introduce new transparent OLED application ideas at CES 2022. The company is unveiling four innovate solutions, all that use the same 55" FHD 38% transparent OLED panel that LG is producing since 2019.

LG Display Shopping Managing Showcase at CES 2022

First up is the Shopping Managing Showcase which uses a wooden display stand. This retail application is "ideal for luxurious department stores as it can "display eye-catching visual content on the screen that harmonizes with the products on display behind".

The second display is the OLED Shelf which combines two transparent OLED panels that hang off from a shelf to "seamlessly blend into any living room decoration". LG says that its innovative OLED Shelf is "perfect for displaying TV shows or gallery paintings" and is aimed towards a residential setting.

LG Display Show Window at CES 2022

The third display is the Show Window which uses four displays to offer a "maximized advertising potential by delivering a more unique and informative shopping experience".

The final display is the Smart Window which is specially designed for the office of the future. The idea here is to embed transparent OLEDs in conference room windows, thereby helping professional teams maximize their productivity and show video conferencing, presentations, and entertainment.

LGD quotes a recent study made by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which forecasts that the global transparent OLED display market is set to expand continuously at a CAGR of 116% over this decade, reaching a total value of around $2.7 billion by 2025 and $10 billion by 2030.
