LG Display's entire lineup of OLED TV and monitor panels have earned UL Solutions' Eyesafe Verification

LG Display announced today that its entire lineup of OLED panels for TVs and monitors have earned UL Solutions Eyesafe Verification, meeting Eyesafe® Display Requirements 3.0. LG Display says that it is the first in the industry to get this verification.

The new requirements were developed by Eyesafe, an international authority in blue light management, in collaboration with leading eye care professionals. The verification confirms that displays maintain color accuracy and reduce blue light emissions.

LGD explains that while previous Eyesafe certifications were based solely on the proportion of blue light emitted by a display in the range of 435-440 nanometers (nm), the new criteria provide a more comprehensive measure for human-friendly displays by including the potential impact of blue light on circadian rhythms, including melatonin secretion, which affects sleep. To obtain this verification, a display must offer color reproduction of at least 90% based on the DCI-P3 standard, as well as meeting a minimum score of 35 for Circadian Protection Factor (CPF), which assesses the level of blue light emissions at peak wavelengths 480-500 nm, and Radiance Protection Factor (RPF®), which measures the level of blue light emissions at peak wavelengths 435-440 nm.

All OLED panels mass-produced by LG Display have achieved industry-leading scores of CPF 60 and RPF 40, comfortably meeting the Eyesafe Display Requirements 3.0 as verified by UL Solutions. These scores are comparable to screen protection films applied to monitors and mobile phones, demonstrating how far the company has minimized the potential impact of its displays on eye health and sleep.
