LG Display to invest $516 million in its OLED production line in Paju

A report from Korea suggests that LG Display is planning to invest 700 billion Won (around $516 million USD) in new OLED technology facilitates within in Paju plant.

The report does not detail LGD's exact plans, and whether these investment will include an expansion of its production capacity, the installation of new technologies and equipment to enhance its capabilities, or mostly go towards R&D.

It turns out that LGD has been designated a 'returning corporation' by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy following the sale of its last LCD fab in China to CSoT. This new status grants new subsidies and tax reductions for LGD if it establishes or expands its business in Korea. LGD hopes to receive up to 50 billion Won in subsidies from both the national government and local government.
