LG Display to expand the production capacity of its 6-Gen production line in Paju as demand from Apple increases

LG Display has decided has decided to expand its E6 production fab in Paju (referred to as the AP4 plant), as demand from Apple for smartphone iPhone OLED panels is on the rise.

LGD's E6 fab in Paju has the capacity to produce 45,000 monthly substrates. LG Display is interesting in expanding the capacity to 60,000 substrates. Mass production will begin in 2026, and LGD hopes that it will be able to supply AMOLED displays to Apple's iPhone 18 in the new line. The company will finalize equipment orders next month. A few months ago LG Display announced a $925 million investment plan, and most of these funds will be allocated to this fab expansion project.

According to Korean media, one of the reasons for Apple's increased orders from LG is that the company is diverting away orders from BOE. It is said that in general, global tech companies are moving away from Chinese-made displays, and prefer to buy from Korean producers, namely Samsung Display and LG Display.
