LG Display held an online webinar, and shared details about how it is applying its AI systems to increase its productivity.
Last year, LGD announced that it has developed and deployed a new AI system that improves its OLED production process. The system provides real time alerts and solutions, helping to reduce the time required to analyze and improve the causes of quality anomalies from an average of three weeks to two days. LG estimates that this new AI system will save it around 200 billion Won ($140 million USD) annually.
Now LG updates that it has also implemented AI systems into its display design process. One example where this system is being used, is in irregularly shaped panels. Such panels require specialized compensation patterns, which were designed manually. AI has now simplified this task, reducing the average time it takes to finalize the design from one month to 8 hours.
LG Display announced it would apply its self-developed AI extensively to all business areas, from development to production and administration, declaring this year as the inaugural year of AX (AI Transition) innovation.
