LG Display announced plans to invest 1.26 trillion Won ($925 million USD) to develop advanced OLED technologies. The funds will be invested over a period of 2 years (until June 30, 2027).
The investment was approved at LGD's board meeting today, and have been announced in a regulatory filing.
Earlier this month we reported that LGD is planning to invest 700 billion Won (around $516 million USD) in new OLED technology facilitates within in Paju plant. It seems that LGD decided to increase its investment.
The company did not disclose the exact technologies or display segments it plans to focus this new investment on. LG Display is active in many OLED areas, including large-area TV panels, wearable, smartphone and IT AMOLED panels, OLED microdisplays for AR, transparent OLEDs, automotive OLED displays, and more.
