According to reports, the Korean Supreme Court upheld the validity of SFC's blue OLED emitter patent, and did not accept the claims by SK Materials JNC that the patent was invalid.

This patent dispute started in 2020, when SK Materials JNC filed the patent invalidation application, and the patent court held the patent as valid in the summer of 2024. SK Materials JNC then appealed to the supreme court.
The patent (Korean Patent ID: 2094830) details the material structure of a fluorescent blue OLED emitter, and is titled "Polycyclic aromatic compound and organoelectroluminescent device using the same".
