Korean equipment maker ICD announced that it has signed a contract with TCL CSOT, to supply it with five dry etching systems. These systems will be deployed at CSOT's upcoming 8.6-Gen inkjet printing OLED line.
ICD says that the contract is worth 41.4 billion won, or $28 million USD. The agreement was signed on April 14, and the final system will be supplied in January 2027.
TCL began construction of the fab in November 2025, which means mass production will likely begin in 2028 - or maybe even 2029, it may be more challenging to scale-up inkjet printing than it is to scale-up the more mature FMM based OLED processes.
