Huawei charges $1,000 to replace the foldable OLED in the Mate X smartphone

A few days ago Huawei finally launched its first foldable smartphone, the Mate X with a 8" 2200x2480 foldable AMOLED display that folds outwards. The price of the Mate X is 16,999 Yuan (around $2,400).

According to a new report from China, Huawei charges 7,080 yuan ($1,000) to replace the OLED display if it fails. That's about the price of a high-end smartphone by itself. The 8" foldable AMOLED display is produced by BOE.

Huawei's Mate X is the world's most expensive foldable OLED smartphone. Samsung charges $2,000 for the Galaxy Fold while Motorola will charge $1,500 for the Razr 2019.
