HiSense launches its first Dual-Cell LCD TV, the 65SX

In 2019 Hisense announced that it developed a new LCD display technology which uses two LCD panels to improve the display's contrast. The company now launched its first such TV, the 65SX Dual-Cell LCD TV.

Hisense says that the 65SX TV will ship in Australia next month (September 2020), for $3,499 AUD (around $2,500 USD).

HiSense's Dual-Cell TVs align two LCD panels one on top of the other. The inner LCD is a grayscale FHD panel that is used to block the light on low brightness images, and on top of it is the usual 4K full-color LCD.

This is basically a way to achieve a high number of 'local dimming' zones for an LCD display (over 2 million such zones, in fact, as it is FHD).
