At CES in Las Vegas, Sony showed the development of an attachable Single-Lens Display Module, under the working title SmartEyeglass Attach! as the concept model. The Single-Lens Display Module brings smartness to any kind of eyewear, as it includes a high-resolution colour OLED micro display that can enhance many types of use cases where short notifications are beneficial. With the Single-Lens Display Module users can, for example, track the performance during workouts or get instructions and still keep both hands free while performing tasks at work.

About the Single-Lens Display ModuleThe display module is equipped with a 0.23 inch, high-resolution color OLED micro display that is among the smallest in the world. The module has a resolution of 640 x 400 pixels, with a luminance of 800 nits and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1. Combined with a micro-optical unit that is optimized for the OLED, this module enables high-quality image projection in any lighting conditions, ranging from  sunny outdoor environments to usage in dark rooms inside.

The projected images are equivalent to the field of view for a 16-inch display at a distance of 2 meters. The image size is designed to be optimal for use as a sub-window, providing the user with necessary information without distracting the view of the real world around the user.

In addition to the display solution, the Single-Lens Display Module also features a 3-axis accelerometer sensor, geomagnetic sensor, touch sensors and a communication module supporting Bluetooth and Wireless LAN. The display module communicates with a smartphone via Bluetooth and Wireless LAN.
