Germany-based beeOLED announced that it has been awarded a 2.5 million Euro project by the European Innovation Council (EIC), as part of the EIC Accelerator Program, to support its work on blue OLED emitters.
The company says that the project, called beeUP, will enable beeOLED to scale up its operations and accelerate its R&D, preparing its intra-metallic emission materials for for market readiness. The project started in October 2025, and will have a duration of two years.
beeOLED was established in 2020 with an aim to develop deep-blue OLED emitters, based on intra-metallic emission, that has been used in other display technologies in the past but have not been usable in OLED displays yet. beeOLED says that it is the first to make intra-metallic molecules compatible with the vacuum processing technology used in high-volume OLED display manufacturing.
In August 2023, beeOLED announce a $14.4 million financing round co-led by eCAPITAL and Innovation Industries. Back in 2023, we posted an interview with the company's founder and CEO, Dr. Jan Blochwitz-Nimoth. We recently posted an article detailing all global OLED emitter material developers, including beeOLED.
