LG's 2013 FHD OLED TV now available for $1,999

Amazon is now offering LG's 55EA9800 OLED TV (2013 model) for only $1,999. That's the lowest price ever for an OLED TV at Amazon.com. The EA9800 was replaced in 2014 by the 55EC9300 (which is now on sale on Amazon for $2,999). Both TVs use a curved 55" Full-HD OLED panel.

LG also offers the 55EG9600 curved 55" 4K OLED TV (2015 model), which is listed at Amazon for $5,499 but not shipping yet.

Something to look for if someone grabs one from sale (might have been purely issues in the shop setup but to me having obvious flaws tends to stop a sale more than a price)

I looked at this 2013 model last year at a shop and was left with the question if there was a problem with the source or the tv as there was some jitter in the demo video. I didn't resolve that question as the price, cheap feeling remote control and incoming 4K was enough to raise the question of who'd buy it. (Thanks to some looking around I found the old 15" OLED model reduced to my price range - I primarily watch SD content and without lot of processing I can say that CRT is still useful for having VHS look "HD" as just OLED alone isn't enough to make SD look as nice as it does on CRT)

It’s probably time to consider using a 55" OLED TV as a computer monitor. Unfortunately its resolution is now too low. ^_^

What's with 46, 40 inch models (flats)? Not everyone wants to buy 55 and curved.

A flat 55" will arrive this year from LG, but smaller panels won't...

Have to wait, but how long.

I don't know Bob. But probably quite a while. LGD is currently focused on large size OLEDs (55", 65" and 77") and it doesn't seem as if we'll have another large-area OLED producer soon (maybe expect Samsung, but they will also probably go for the premium large TV market).

10000$!

As far as I know this TV costs 25,000 NIS - or $6375. Still over 3X the price in the US!

Yea. Pathetic..

I really cant buy something so costly ...

Waiting for a price Under 10000 nis..

Yeah, we have a whopping 53.4% import tax (vat & customs) for 50+ inch TV's here in israel.

Still, it would be much cheaper to import this TV and pay the import taxes than buying here.

Oh well...
