BCDTek produces the first working samples at its 12-inch K2 fab, is developing 50,000 nits OLEDs

OLED microdisplay developer BCDTek announced that it has successfully lit up its 12-inch OLED microdisplay fab (its K2 Fab) in Huainan. It has managed to produce its first working prototype, a 0.49" FHD 3000 nits OLED microdisplay, that passed reliability testing. The company will soon start actual commercial production.

BCDTek's first phase of the K2 fab will have a monthly capacity of 4,000 12-inch wafers, and required an investment of 1.5 billion Yuan (around $210 million). In its full capacity, the fab will have a capacity of 20,000 monthly substrates (and a price tag of almost $1 billion USD). BCDTek hasn't yet raised the funds (or credit) for the full fab.

In 2022, BCDTek announced its plans to construct a 12-inch OLED microdisplay production site in Huainan, China. The company announced in 2023 that it has completed the building that will host the first phase of this fab. In June 2025 BCDTek raised $83.5 million in its pre-Series A round, with plans to increase it soon to $140 million.
