Audi launched its largest flagship SUV, the Q9, its largest ever that offers "an unrivaled sense of space; premium materials, and technical excellence". Audi highlights several innovations, including individual electric seats in the second row, automatic doors, adaptive driving assistant plus with hands-free driving, and the largest panoramic sunroof ever fitted to an Audi.
But the first on Audi's highlights list, is the OLED taillights. Audi is using a new OLED system, that it refers to as third-generation digital OLED rear lights. These new ultra-thin-glass based flexible OLEDs are curved in three dimensions. Audi says that this not only opens up new design possibilities but also increases visibility, as the light can be seen from a wider angle. The Q9 uses a total of 512 different OLED segments (panels), across six modules.
While it is not confirmed, we assume the OLED lighting supplier is OLEDWorks. The company has been working with Audi for many years, and have supplied OLED lighting for several of its models, including the 2026 Audi Q4 e-tron, the 2026 Audi Q3, the Audi A5, and the Audi A6.
