Philips OLED805

Philips' OLED TV series for 2020, the OLED805 will be available in 55" and 65" sizes (4K LGD WRGB panels) and will feature an ultra-slim design, 3-sided ambilight, Android OS platform, backlit remote control and Philips' latest 4th-gen P5 AI processor. The OLED805 will support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR10+ and HLG.

Philips will also offer the OLED855 that comes with a chrome T-arc stand.

OnePlus says its next phone to feature a 120Hz SDC AMOLED display

In May 2019 OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7 Pro - a flagship smartphone that features a large 6.67" 90Hz 1440x3120 Fluid AMOLED - a 90Hz Super AMOLED (produced by Samsung Display).

OnePlus now officially announced that its next phone (the OnePlus 8) will feature a high-end AMOLED, developed in collaboration with Samsung, that will feature a refresh rate of 120Hz, a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, 10-bit color support and a 2K+ resolution. OnePlus again brands its Super AMOLED displays as Fluid Display. The touch sample rate will be 240Hz and the phone will include a hardware MEMC smooth-video accelerator.

LG Display managed to fix its yield issues in the Guangzhou fab, will begin mass production by end of January 2020

On August 2019 LG Display announced that it started producing OLED TV panels at its 8.5-Gen OLED fab in Guangzhou, China. But later it was reported that LGD faced technical issues and production did not begin as planned in October 2019 - and LGD delayed production to Q1 2020.

According to a new report from Korea, LGD finally fixed its technical issues and managed to optimize the yields at the new fab. Mass production will begin in Guangzhou by the end of this month.

Will HiSense retire its OLED TV line in favor of dual-panel ULED-XD tech?

In November 2018 HiSense launched its first OLED TV range, the Series X and later in Europe. According to reports, demand for HiSense's OLEDs were lower-than-expected, at least in Australia. In 2019 the company also unveiled its dual-LCD (ULED-XD) technology that achieves a very high contrast ratio.

According to PC Magazine, HiSense decided to retire its OLED line of TVs, and instead adopt ULED-XD technology to compete in the high-end segment.

The NSRP awards OLEDWorks and Acuity Brands with a $150,000 project to research marine OLED lighting

The US National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) awarded OLEDWorks and Acuity Brands $150,000 towards a marine lighting research project.

This is a follow-on projector to the earlier Low-Voltage Shipboard Lighting Feasibility Study project. This new 12-month project will refine shipboard configuration, optimize size & weight to maximize the inherent advantages of the OLED technology.
