Universal Display reports 1Q results

Universal Display (UDC) logoUniversal Display reported their 1Q results. For the first quarter of 2009, the Company reported a net loss of $5.5M, Revenues were $2.8M.

They are still optimistic, and waiting for ramp-ups in OLED production from Samsung SMD, CMEL and LG.

There isn't much news from them. Interestingly, during their conference call they talk about Samsung's 23" OLED prototype - even though we now know that it was actually a LED-based LCD monitor, and not an OLED.

UDC Future

And waiting and waiting and waiting ........The ramp never seems to happen and UDC seems to have zero insight as to what is actually going on with their own 'partner', SMD. Sid Rosenblatt in the conference call even stated that SMD looks at UDC as a 'vendor' . A vendor is less than a partner and I am wondering how much pull UDC has with anybody they are working with. Loks like very little. The lack of news also makes me wonder if they have hit a wall somehow and if the major players are going in another direction.
