Univision will enter mass production of full-color OLED panels for use in MP3 players and handset sub-displays in the second quarter of this year. The maker began volume production of PM (passive-matrix) monochrome and area-color OLEDs in October 2003.
Univision started installing equipment for its second production line in December last year, according to Chen (company president). As the new operation kicks off in March, monthly capacity for its full-color PM OLEDs will total 120 million substrates, Chen said.
Univision projects its OLED-panel shipments will total 12 million units in 2005, rising from about three million last year, according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times today.
