Motorola preparing a Super-AMOLED phone according to new rumors

The rumors were true - Motorola unveiled the Droid RAZR with a 4.3" qHD Super AMOLED display...

There are some rumors surfacing that Motorola are working towards a new Android LTE phone with a 4.3" qHD (960x540) Super AMOLED display (this will be the first device to sport such a display if true!). Other features include 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8mp camera and Full-HD (1080p) video encoding. The new phone will be called the Spyder, or the Droid RAZR or perhaps Droid HD...

Interestingly, our own source told us a few days ago that Motorola will start using AMOLED displays in their new phones - so this gives some credit to this rumor. What's even more interesting, is that our source is the same one behind the new Apple iPhone 5 OLED rumor...

Back in December 2009 there were some rumors that Motorola are planning a couple of AMOLED phones... but that never happened. In August 2010 Motorola did launch their first AMOLED phone, the clamshell Ming A1680 for the Chinese market that had a 3.1" display.

as Super AMOLED is a registered trademark of Samsung

unless Moto bought the display from Samsung, which is unlikely because Samsung Mobile Display is not producing enough SAMOLEDs even for Samsung's phones

Samsung says they are offering super-amoled to other vendors. In fact now they have enough capacity, and are already in over capacity (or soon they will be), so we're likely to see these displays in more and more devices.
