Corning - a day made of glass

Here's a really nice video produced by Corning - showing future designs made with durable, transparent and even flexible glass displays. A lot of these displays can be achieved with OLEDs, although it's not specifically mentioned in this video. Still, it's beautifully done:

Thanks Ron for giving me a chance to see this.  There was a similar video made by Philips about 6-7 years ago on the ubiquity of displays that highlighted many of these same opportunities.  I have never been able to find a copy for my clients.

How realistic is the flexible glass option?  Will it happen anytime soon?

I'm afraid I'm not really sure about the flexible glass. However there are many companies researching other flexible substrates (metal and plastic) for OLEDs - you can read more here.

Thin glass (less than 0.15 mm) suitably packaged can indeed enable durable flexible displays, and glass companies including Corning are sampling customers.  Various panel makers have made impressive demonstrations of flexible display based upon glass.  The big challenge remains how to adapt display manufacturing processes to thin flexible substrates in mass production.  How long a development will take depends upon how compelling the need for true flexibility in a device.  In my opinion it is a matter of development not invention.

wow....unbelivable........amazing
