eMagin is engaged in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of virtual imaging products that utilize OLEDs, OLED-on-silicon micro displays and information technology solutions. Focused on micro displays, eMagin is selling to companies that incorporate them into products such as cameras, army helmets or headsets, etc.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (Fraunhofer IPMS) has over 200 employees, doing research in electronic, mechanical and optical components and their integration into devices and systems.
The Fraunhofer IPMS has been working on OLED since 2000, and in 2009 launched a new department called COMEDD (the Center for Organics, Materials and Electronic Devices Dresden) to handle its OLED research and pilot fabrication. COMEDD was turned into an independent Fraunhofer Institute in 2012 and now it is a business unit at Fraunhofer FEP.
US-based Kopin Corporation is a developer of microdisplays and other components for wearable devices.
In December 2016 Kopin announced it is developing an OLED microdisplays, following years of LCD microdisplay development and production.
Established in 2007, MicroOLED is a privately held company based in Grenoble, France that designs and develops high-performance OLED microdisplays for near-to-eye applications.
